Greetings from the UP

Welcome. Lots of nice water up there! Nice canoe to explore it with. Nothing paddles like a wooden canoe.

Brews, welcome to site membership! Feel free to ask any questions and to post messages, photos and videos, and to start threads, in our many forums. Please read Welcome to CanoeTripping and Site Rules! Also, please add your location to the Account Details page in your profile, which will cause it to show under your avatar, as this is a geographic sport. Many of the site's technical features are explained in Features: Help and How-To Running Thread. We look forward to your participation in our canoe community.

It looks like you have some gunwale repair work to do, and maybe some others. There are many threads here on such repairs and folks are willing to give advice.

Have wondered many trails but i guess its about time i start enjoying the water too.

Welcome. Yes, definitely time to enjoy some time on the water. You live in a great area for it & it looks like you've got a great start for the canoe collection. (yeah... spoiler alert: that'll probably happen). Looking forward to following along.

Thanks i’m sensing that already!
my last canoe outing was a week on Lake George in Oct 92 i believe.
Was nothing like id ever experienced. The sight and sounds were hypnotic. Only interrupted by an occasional motorboat zooming past, and they saw none of what we experienced.

Welcome, Mr Brew,
When you said Lake George, was that in MI?
Do you plan to camp along with paddling?
I’ve not been to the UP, but I hear it’s great for paddling/camping. I spend my time in the ADK’s in upstate NY.
Fix those gunnels and get out there…

I thought I responded to this already, but I don’t see it. I was referring to Lake George New York. It’s been a wonderful week canoeing around that lake.
