I am just back from a two week canoe trip in WCPP with my son. We purposely avoided the recent burn area by entering and egressing at the Onnie Lake entry. I've attached an image of our route and will be updating this thread with a detailed trip report once it's complete later this week in case...

One things that's always guaranteed in WCPP is lots of fish and lots of photos!! :)

I'll be sure to share it when I'm done. I'm not 100% sure who we're flying with - I organized it through Harlan.

That's what I'm doing with my son in 2.5 weeks or so... :) Can't wait to get back in there! My livingroom is full of gear already - much to my wife's pleasure. :) We're flying into Knox and paddling out of Johnson.

More good news. I received an email from Harlan in Red Lake also confirming that the fire left swaths of unburned areas within the fire boundaries. It sounds like there might be a lot less devastation than the maps would have us believe.

Yeah. I've accessed WCPP from every Manitoba access point and many times through Leano, so I'm glad for those memories, but I am very sad that for the foreseeable future the south part of the park and a large central portion will be problematic for traveling through. I guess I'll just have to...

Is the fire out in that area though? That is my backup plan but I thought that access was also closed and currently still burning?

I am quite surprised there isn't more chatter online about this fire but I guess it's a testament to how few folks actually paddle WCPP. WCPP is my favorite area to paddle and has been for many years already. The fact that the easiest and cheapest access points are all getting destroyed is...
