Woodland Caribou Provincial Park

As far as route options go, look at a loop out of Onnie. It's a shorter drive and there are lots of areas to explore. Only drawback is you'll pass some fly in camps but mostly just freindly folks doing some fishing.

Paddled out of Onnie a couple of years ago. The waterfalls along the river are beautiful and Glenn is stunning. I paddled by the camps but didn't see or hear anyone.

Road is (or was in 2014) fine if you take it steady, problems start when you try to hurry and I have had some horrible trips along that road with shuttle drivers trying to go too fast.
 
And things do change. Blowdown happens . The trees are not deep rooted
That's why it's good to stop at the office for updates.
