    Missing a paddling year

Oof- I’m sorry to hear that. I was supposed to be on a trip this week, but broke my hand a couple weeks ago and will be out of commission for a while. My situation is much more abbreviated than yours, but paddling, fishing, camping, anything that needs both hands is out. Of course I’m right...

Restoration of an early Chestnut Bobs Special

Looking great! I love the color. Reminds me of British Racing Green. How many more coats? Do you seal the bottom side of the outwales against the canvas? Bob

Twig Stoves: Experiences, Opinions and Pictures

I hope to arrive at that destination one day. I have too many tents, stoves, cooking apparatus, knives, etc. I am a consummate tinkerer of kit/gear. Bob

Twig Stoves: Experiences, Opinions and Pictures

Uberleben makes good stuff for what it’s worth. I like my Ghillie kettle as well, but rarely use the twig stove bottom base portion. I find it doesn’t breath well when a pot is on top. Bob

Twig Stoves: Experiences, Opinions and Pictures

Mine is a cheapy off Amazon, but unless it is a “reburner” like a bush buddy or solo stove, they are all very similar. I like mine and I use it often. Especially when I am traveling light or conserving fuel/wood. I have spent many rainy nights under a tarp feeding it sticks and making tea. Bob

Looking to build a low volume, poleable tandem to set up as a solo

Sounds like a fine project. I would also add that polers tend to like a flatter bottom as well. Bob

Mesmerizing/Interesting Phenomena & Experiences Without An Eclipse

I was on the shore of Lake Champlain on Grand Isle many years ago (20 or so) and thought I was having some sort of hallucinatory event. I was looking into the distance and could not dicifer where the horizon was. The water and sky were literally morphing into each other and boats appeared to be...
