My sincerest apologies for taking so long. Six strips per night seems to be my max. I can finally understand how people can stand to build stapleless (not that I'll be following suit).
I'm building with square edge strips rather than bead and cove. I really dislike cutting the bead and cove and...
I only do this on my tripping canoes as there is no need for me to line anything locally. When I'm day paddling them at home I often don't have a painter attached.
I bungee the painter line to the carry handle and keep it pulled taught so the loop through the lining hole doesn't dangle. It can...
I'd assume there are threaded inserts inset into the mounts. The angled ones would be tricky. Are the supports bars on the seat the same distance apart so you can use the existing holes?
I'd start with the back ones. Cut the head off a bolt, sharpen it, and thread it into the hole so the pokey...
What part of the bum does it hurt?
I've never used this style of seat with a backrest but I can see where it could cause discomfort by putting more pressure on the tail bone if leaning back. I'd guess this style of seat is most comfortable with good posture and maybe leaning slightly forward...
Nope. No interest in building the skills to paddle an OC without the O.
Maybe some seat pads in a V5 or V6 would give enough elevation while maintaining stability.
Or maybe I just need design and build my own.

I've thought about them a little bit lately. I've been wondering if there is a something similar to an OC but with no ama and a little wider for stability. Basically a wide surfski with a higher seat position to make it easier to single blade.
Alan
Age will probably do it. That's probably what those seats looked like when they were new. You could leave them out in the sun for a few weeks and see how much they darken.
Maybe a gel stain but that will partially cover the grain.
Best bet, if it bothers you that much, is probably so sand it...
You are a lucky man. I'd rather paddle bow but it's rare that any of my paddling partners want to take stern. I think bow is more interesting than stern but maybe that's just because it's unique (for me).
Alan
Invariably there is something I'm unable to find on a trip. I'll be almost certain I remembered to pack it but after a couple days of not finding it I give up.
Then, when I get home and start unpacking, I find whatever it was tucked away in the little out of the way pocket that I thought was...
I can remember fishing for walleye in WCPP and trying to avoid the pike. I hadn't brought any leaders, which was a mistake, and my jigs were disappearing at an alarming rate.
I'd been told the walleye were usually in 20' of water, which turned out to be correct, so I was using my jig as a...
