I've never owned a wetsuit before. During my recent white water canoe tour, the outfitter supplied us with one. Being tall with thickish thighs and a slender torso, the medium wetsuit fit well on my legs but was too big and uncomfortable on top. Trying the small size was a struggle to wiggle into, especially for the legs, but the top portion felt much better. Do most wetsuits fit like this? Is there a brand that seems to cater to my body type? I was looking at the women’s kokatat neozip long Jane wetsuit. Sadly the online reviews are not super helpful.

You don't have to get a one piece wetsuit. There are two piece wetsuits that you can search out and buy separately—long pants, short pants, sleeved tops, sleeveless tops. Mix and match different components/sizes for for different water and air temperatures.

That's it!

... if you can, then go to an Outfitter store and try on the individual components - you will then immediately find out what you need.

That’s a fair point. I just wonder how the warmth factor would be affected with a two piece suit.

The last outfitter I went to had a poor selection. Mostly dry suits. I can keep looking though.

@Kharrick

here it is again - the Discussion of Wetsuit vs Drysuit -

the warmth factor of a two-piece suit is the same as that of a LongJohn or LongJane.
Neoprene does not keep you warm. Neoprene in combination with a thin layer of water between your skin and the neoprene material prevents you from cooling down quickly when you are in the water.

You can only stay warm and dry with a semidrysuit or a drysuit with an appropriate lower base layer.

Always remember - you are a girl - and girls always have to have to ... well, you know.
So a longjane is probably not advisable?
A two-piece makes more sense. The same goes for two-piece semi-drysuits ... as a girl, you're better off with a two-piece suit.
